The way of pray, mindfulness, meditation, and contemplation is numerous. Breathing, posture, even walking or following a labyrinth are all suggestions. I believe that it is best when one has found a method that suits them and they stick to it.
Approaches are usually loosely associated with a religious background or current practices draw from these and fit with our current secular philosophy of life.
I speak to the Christian tradition. The usual Christian tradition builds upon the biblical, words of Jesus, or theological concepts. The way I am suggesting is biblical and theological concepts.
The purpose of this approach is to take one into out of the thinking mind to the conceptual realm. I suggest at least 20 or 30 minutes. Repeating the verses as occasion. It is as follows.
Alpha
In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God
He was with God in the beginning
All things were made through him and without him nothing was made that was made. (Gen 1: 1 f)
Creation
In him was life, and the life was the light of men
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. (Gen 1:3f)
Jesus
And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth,
We have beheld his glory, glory as of the only son of the Father. (Jn 1:14)
Spirit
Following his resurrection, the Word was manifested as Spirit,
Speaking in tongues, revealing the truth of peace and harmony. ( Acts 2:1 f)
Christ
So began the discovery of the Cosmic Christ, working for the fulfilment of creation, all living creatures and the glorification of humanity.
Omega
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy Glory,
Glory be to thee Oh Lord most high.
